Welcome to
the artranspennine98 Jorge Pardo education web page. During artranspennine98 (23 May -16
August) one object from either the library, sculpture
collection or archive will be revealed each day. In total
86 items will become a star for a day and occupy the stage in the smallest gallery at the
Henry Moore Institute. After their short bout of stardom
it will still be possible to see the item on this web
page but they will not be visible in the exhibition any
more. They will return to their natural home where they
will continue their shelf life until you come and pick
them off the shelf or request to see them.
The initial reasons why an object was chosen might just
have been because of colour, certain memories, or, as you might find out, even smell. Now we - the librarian, assistant
curator and archivist - have chosen the objects we will
try to let them make sense together. We will enter into
an exchange of information and thoughts by sending and
responding to email messages about the objects. The
initial reasons why we picked an object still remain but
the interaction between the meaning of the objects, their
similarities or perhaps their completely opposite
qualities will form part of a 'communal' stream of
consciousness leaping from the rational to the illogical and
sometimes perhaps to the purely nonsensical. Enjoy, get
utterly disgusted, challenge our selection, contradict
our insights, or just sit back and relax - as each day
reveals another object. Keep linked up by bookmarking
this page so you can easily find us again tomorrow. You are warned, though, some
objects might be too rude for prose!
Your comments are welcome. Do not hold back - let us know
what you think of our selection. (The comments will
become 'property' of artranspennine98 and might be
selected to be read in the publicly accessible comments
box or in a ringbinder in the exhibition room at the
HMI).

contributions/comments welcome.
