The different way
sculptors use their sketchbooks is quite
revealing. Apart from making large finished drawings David Nash
also
used a sketchbook on his Polish trip. The drawings in the
sketchbook
are different from the ones in the diary. The sketchbook ones are
serious, no little people falling over tree trunks. Most drawings
are bold and confident there are also many calculations figuring
out
what can be cut from one tree, there are time schedules, colours
schemes, and prices. One of the drawings is nearly exactly the
same
as the photograph used as an illustration in the catalogue.
