It was shortly after meeting Jean Arp that Vézelay turned briefly to
sculpture, during the period 1935-36. The work by Arp in the
collection is a late work and relates to his `Threshold' series.
Again there is an interplay between matter and air as the the
sculpture comprises of two forms - a positive form (the bronze) and a
negative form (space) - thus, in a sense, creating two sculptures -
one made of bronze, the other made of air.
