Avalanche,
numbers 1-7 [serial publication]
New York:
Kineticism Press, 1970-73
When I selected
this set to show you we were missing the first issue,
the one with Joseph Beuys on the cover, and that really irked me.
Fortunately, after searching for several years, I recently
managed to
trace and buy that issue. I'd be delighted if I could find the
last
six issues (numbers 8-13) to make the set complete. Do snap them
up
if you come across them. They give a real taste of the cutting
edge
of the contemporary art scene in New York in the early seventies,
and
show the early work of some of today's established artists. The
covers show: Joseph Beuys, Bruce Nauman, Barry Le Va, Lawrence
Weiner, Yvonne Rainer, Vito Acconci and Man Ray (William Wegman's
dog!). I wonder what today's art scene will look like in 25 years
time? Remind me then to come to the library and look back.
