A Welsh printmaker currently
working in West Yorkshire as Artist in Residence
at Ackworth, a Quaker boarding school.
Lucy trained as an illustrator but specialises in
printmaking.
Her images reveal a fascination for texture and
pattern. Woodcut and etching techniques provide
the perfect media for exploration into both
areas.
Surfaces printed on frequently become an
intrinsic part of the design. Papers are often
handmade by the artist, giving work an added
dimension and sense of personal expression.
Inspiration is found in her immediate
surroundings. Work is autobiographical and
accounts the characters she meets in every day
life. Studies of people are often intimate and
demonstrate an appreciation of individuality.
